Who is behind the formula

The Scalp Tonic was developed by Revi, the founder of Crown of Liberty, with a team of chemists, a dermatologist, and cosmetic advisors. She did the developing; the team held the work to a standard. This page says who did what, and what none of them claim.

Revi Orenstein

Revi is the founder and the formulator. Crown of Liberty began with her frustration: every mainstream answer to a scalp complaint was another surface product, another shampoo, another mask, another promise that faded by the next wash. She kept asking a different question. Not "how do we coat the hair?" but "what is happening at the skin?"

Her search took her East. In Phuket, Thailand, she learned scalp and hair practice. She came back with a conviction and a list of plants, and with the understanding that a plant is a starting point, not a formula.

The team

A formula for the skin has to be stable, safe, pleasant, and precise. That is not one person's job.

  • Chemists built the formula: the water base, the preservation system, the solubilizers that keep botanical oils dissolved and clear in water, the pH target of 4.5 to 5.0, the light texture that lets a few drops press in without feeling heavy.
  • A dermatologist worked with the team on the formulation choices.
  • Cosmetic advisors brought the discipline of the category: what a leave-in should feel like, what a label has to say, what a first batch has to prove before a second is made.

Names are not listed here. The dermatologist's role was part of the development, not an endorsement of the finished product, and we do not describe the Scalp Tonic as dermatologist-recommended, dermatologist-tested, or dermatologist-approved. It is none of those things. It was developed with one in the room, and that is what we say.

How the formula was made

It started with the plants: botanical traditions of India, Korea, China, Japan, and Southeast Asia, each chosen for the skin of the scalp. It was held to Western formulation standards: every ingredient with a reason to be there, every concentration set on purpose, the whole formulated for the skin's own slightly acidic range. And it was reduced. What did not earn its place came out.

The finished formula is a cosmetic. It balances oil, and leaves the scalp feeling calm and comfortable, with less visible flaking. The scalp feels cleaner for it.

What we do not claim

The work was theirs, the claims are ours, and the claims stay inside what a cosmetic may say. What the Scalp Tonic is, and what it is not
